Apple Inc. have recently released an update to the iLife suite of software tools, which included a new version of iMovie. Instead of a cosmetic make-over, iMovie has been completely redesigned from the ground up. This has meant that I Can Animate does not currently create iMovie 7 projects.
I Can Animate allows you to "Share" an animation as either a QuickTime movie, which could be imported into iMovie 7, or as an iMovie project. In order to export the iMovie project you will need to have iMovie HD installed. The iMovie project you create will only load into iMovie HD.
Apple Inc. have provided a free download of iMovie HD (version 6.0.4) from their website: Download iMovie HD
This is a 155MB download, and will only install on computers with a licensed version of iLife '08 installed.
We currently suggest the following:
New Macintosh Computers with iLife '08 included
This will install iMovie HD into a folder called iMovie (previous version) within Applications.
The minimum specifications for iMovie (version 7) are on Apple's website.
There are a couple of scenarios to consider.
When you install iLife '08 your old version of iMovie HD will be moved into a folder called iMovie (previous version). If your previous version was called iMovie HD (which is likely to be the case if you have either an Intel or G5 processor) then you can simply move iMovie HD back into the Applications folder and delete the iMovie (previous version) folder.
The new version of iMovie will not be installed so you have nothing else to do.
