Licensing

Introduction

There are a number of issues that schools and owners need to be aware of:

• Whilst many perceive that the CD is the most important part of the software pack, it is in fact the licence that you purchase to run the software that is far more valuable and important.
• Without both the serial number and the licence, the CD is of little value.
• The Master Licence, on which your serial number is printed, is your legal document of purchase and as such licences you to install the software to a single computer and to run the software.
• Additional licences allow you to legally install the software to additional computers and to run the software on those machines.
• You must have a valid licence for each computer that you intend to install the software to.

Lost Licences

If you have lost the licence card(s) you need to try to obtain the following information:

• Where was the software purchased and when?
• If you still have the CD what is the version number?
• Did you return the registration card(s)?
• Do you have the software installed on any machines?
• Can you obtain your licence number from another computer? (See 'Where can I find my Serial number' below).

If we are able to validate your purchase, then we can issue a new licence, a handling fee will be charged, however, we cannot issue a new Master Licence number.

If we have to issue a new Master Licence number, then we will have to invoice for the full price of that single Master Licence.

Where can I find my serial number?

• If you have returned your registration card we will have a record of your serial number.
• If you still have the registration card/or a printed manual the registration number may be printed on it.
• Registration numbers can also be found on the inside cover of software manuals – older versions of software only.
• If by chance you have already installed the software onto a computer and have access to it, then the registration number can be retrieved from the software <Help About> option in the software.
• The serial number can also be found in the registry of the computer but you need to understand the registry before attempting to access data from this location. Changes to the registry could cause the computer to become inoperative.
• Until you can produce a Master Licence, and additional licences where applicable, you are NOT legally entitled to install the software onto any computers.

In order to be legal, you must either find the original licence(s) or, failing that, obtain a Master Replacement Licence directly from us.

Master Licence Replacement Scheme

A Master Replacement Licence supersedes and invalidates any other licences held by the school for that product. It will contain details of the total number of licences held by the school for that product.

Should the school wish to purchase additional licences for a product at a later date, they can ONLY do so by returning the Master Replacement Licence for upgrade directly to us.

Cost to the school for a Master Replacement Licence and new media pack will be given upon request, this price includes recorded delivery.

If the original licence(s) are later found, they are no longer valid and should be destroyed to avoid any confusion.

Stolen Licences

Licences that are stolen/destroyed should be claimed for by the school through their normal insurance claims procedure. Following that, new copies of the software can be purchased.

We can supply details of costs and invoices should these be required by your insurer. (Please note we can only supply these details if the software was originally purchased directly from Kudlian Software).
