Delivering the Curriculum through Creativity™
Apple Inc. have recently released an update to the iLife suite of software tools, which included a new version of iMovie. Instead of a cosmetic make-over, iMovie has been completely redesigned from the ground up. This has meant that the Kudlian Soft expansion packs, which include a plug-in for iMovie, will not work with the new iMovie (version 7) that is shipping with iLife '08 & you will need to download iMovie HD in order to edit your movies using them.
Apple Inc. have withdrawn iMovie HD (version 6.0.4) from their website:
If you have already installed our expansion pack(s) then you probably do not need to do anything, although you may wish to read through the following in case you wish to install additional packs in the future, upgrade an existing iMovie plug-in or simply move the iMovie HD application back into the Applications folder.
We currently suggest the following:
New Macintosh Computers with iLife '08 included
If iMovie HD is installed into a folder called iMovie (previous version) within Applications, you must move iMovie HD into the main Applications folder before installing any of the Kudlian Expansion Packs.
Note that the Kudlian plug-ins will only appear in iMovie HD and not the new iMovie.
The minimum specifications for iMovie (version 7) are on Apple's website.
There are a couple of scenarios to consider.
When you install iLife '08 your old version of iMovie HD will be moved into a folder called iMovie (previous version). If your previous version was called iMovie HD (which is likely to be the case if you have either an Intel or G5 processor) then you can simply move iMovie HD back into the Applications folder and delete the iMovie (previous version) folder. You must move iMovie HD back into the Applications folder before you install any of the Kudlian Expansion Packs.
The new version of iMovie will not be installed so you have nothing else to do.
