In 2009, I was awarded the NADFAS award for the Big Draw Competition, Drawing campaign. We produced a 5 minute animated film, conceived, drawn, narrated and shot entirely by a group of students aged between 14 and 18. We also produced a 15 minute production DVD as a classroom prompt and reflection tool. This detailed all the elements of the event. It showed the students involved in drawing, set, prop and character design, the stop motion and cut out animation process, as well as the narration, editing and adding sound affects to the final film…. And we had a lot of fun !

Also, in 2009, I was awarded an International award for Animation by D&AD. The brief, set by the Science Museum, London, was to “Capture the imagination of 8-14 year olds by creating a short animation that takes as its starting point the bizarre, wonderful, non-existent existence of the black hole”… The film “String Feary” was written, designed and produced by myself.

I was involved with the 30 day international campaign to promote D&AD, within the college and University network. A unique paper template and plant tag was dispatched via e-mail and social networking sites. Students were invited to Grow their own……………. career (of course !). A short animated film was conceived, designed and produced by our studio. This was the GrOw campaign and this may be viewed at the link below.

I have an active animation practice and have my own studio in the heart of Warwickshire. The office and production suite is located in Leicestershire, near the borders of Rutland and Northamptonshire. I have produced a series of experimental animation films in recent years, and am enthusiastic about experimenting with new animation and film techniques. I am currently engaged in Animation research, with Loughborough University.

I also produce commercial work as an independent Art Director and Head Model-Maker. I work within studios in the Midlands. Recently I have been involved in the production of a viral campaign for a well-known drink as well as a TV ad for a certain Safari Park.

I have an initial teaching and training qualification. The PTLLS certificate (City & Guilds 7303) covers training within the FE sector. An example could be within sixth form colleges & FE’s. I also have a years teaching experience, in supply teaching, for local rural and inner city secondary schools in the Midlands, and East Anglia. I have good references.

I have an infectious enthusiasm and passion for animation in all its forms and would be happy to continue to help develop our future young animators.
